To find out how one comes to run a blog on “”, we have to travel far back into my past:
Sometime in childhood, in the first half of the 80s, I was regularly driven through Wulsdorf, a district of Bremerhaven. Always the same route, always on the way into “town”. Maybe to the grandparents or to go shopping, I can no longer say exactly where.
But always past a somehow strange building, dark, box-shaped and tall. That was the residential water tower; as a child you don’t really ask yourself what a residential water tower might be, although this category of building is rather unusual. There are several “normal” water towers in Bremerhaven, so this special kind was just one among others, one in which people also live.
More than three decades later, in Antiquariat Pretzsch (German) N°1, the book “10 Jahre Wesermünde” fell into my hands and I found the tower again, standing there quite without surrounding buildings, unlike in childhood…
You can read more about the residential water tower Wulsdorf (German) on Wikipedia.
